Project
The aim of the transnational project “MemoryLanes” is to develop new ways of remembering Jewish life in Europe. The project is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 18 and is a collaboration with educators, artists and extracurricular educational institutions in Serbia, Poland and Germany.
The aim is to develop creative projects (such as performances, digital storytelling, graphic novels, cartography and city tours) based on biographies from the Centropa archive and other independent research that the participants conduct themselves, which make Jewish life in the five project cities in the three countries tangible and visible in an artistic way. The young people can choose the project outputs themselves according to their own interests. Two international conferences are planned (in person in Kraków (to be confirmed/in consultation) and Belgrade), where the young people from all three countries can get to know each other and meet (kick-off conference and closing event). The aim of the project is for young people to select their own Centropa biographies (Jewish biographies, example here: https://www.centropa.org/de/biography/erna-goldmann) and develop their own ideas for a cultural remembrance project.
